Church of the Holy Cross - Kosciol Swietego Krzyza

Chopin's heart lies here.
Frederic Chopin died in Paris on October 17th 1849, but it was not possible to repatriate his body to his native Poland. His adored sister Ludwika Chopin, followed her brother's express desire to have his heart laid to rest in a free Poland. Frederic Chopin's heart has found a final resting place in the Church of the Holy Cross. This church in the Baroque style is one of the most beautiful tourist sites in Warsaw. A statue of Christ holding the cross and pointing skywards is sculpted on the facade of the church. Every Sunday, the masses held in the church are broadcast on Polish radio.
